SOUTH OF HOBART
Create a beautiful, warm home that is filled with light.
Combine traditional post and beam construction with modern building technology and natural, non-toxic materials.
The frame of this project is made from large trusses spanning 6m made from both reclaimed and milled timbers.
Celery Top pine, hardwood (gum) Iron wood and Douglas Fur are finely sanded then finished with tongue oil, eucalyptus oil or beeswax.
This frame is designed to support a heavy slate roof and features a fully glazed gable end and large triple glazed windows on the sunny side to capture maximum light.
Joinery is designed to work in compression and is held in place with hand made hardwood pegs.
The warm colours of a hardwood lined ceiling enhance the beauty of big timber post and beam joinery.
Galen busy on the slate roof.
The roof cavity is filled with cellulose fibre insulation which is a much healthier alternative to conventional products.
Double membranes ensure a watertight roof that will last for generations.
